The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has released the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME results. Over 1.94 million candidates registered and sat the examination in 118 towns and over 700 centres across the country. The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede announced the release of the results at a press conference held at the board’s headquarters, Bwari, in Abuja on Monday. The examination which began on Friday, 19th April ended on Monday, 29th April 2024. HOW TO CHECK YOUR JAMB RESULT FOR 2024 To check the JAMB 2024 UTME result, candidates can visit the JAMB portal and enter their phone number, registration number, or email address. Alternatively, they can check their result via SMS by sending UTMERESULT to either 55019 or 66019 using the phone number they registered with.   The Deputy Bursar of Kwara State University Malete, Alhaji Ayuba Abdullahi, on Wednesday night, died while watching the semi-finals between Nigeria and South Africa in the ongoing AFCON. Nigeria won the match against South Africa by 4-2 goals on penalties after regulation and extra time ended 1-1. Sources close to the deceased but who spoke on condition of anonymity said Abdullahi went to a sports centre in the Sango area before he started feeling uneasy.  The Federal Government has suspended N-Power program indefinitely. Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, announced the indefinite suspension while speaking in an interview on TVC News on Saturday. Meanwhile, the minister said the government has launched investigation into the utilization of funds since the inception of the program. She stated that some of the beneficiaries are not found in their place of assignments yet they expect monthly stipends. The minister said some of the beneficiaries ought to have exited the program since 2022 but are still on the payroll. She said, “We must go back to look into N-Power and understand what the problems are so we will basically suspend the programe for now until we are done with proper investigation into the utilization of fund into the N-Power program. “We want to know how many persons are basically on the program right now, how many persons are owed, amount they are owed.   Hilda Baci: UNICAL undergraduate kicks off 188-hour write-a-thon A University of Calabar undergraduate, Daniel Aiguokhian, has begun his Guinness World Record (GWR) attempt for marathon fiction and nonfiction writing. The record has never been set nor is it currently held by anyone. Mr Aiguokhian started his seven-day write-a-thon challenge on the 1st of October and is expected to end on the 8th of October. This attempt would see him write for seven days and 20 hours, with only seven hours of rest time and 10 minutes for himself each day. During the marathon writing session, Aiguokhian will write and produce two books each day, one on fiction and the other on non-fiction. So far, he has written six books already with different book titles and a minimum of 30 pages for each.
